Have you ever been to a place and it instinctively felt “right”? That’s how I feel about the area we went hiking on Labor Day weekend. Not quite flat prairie, not quite mountains, but the perfect mix of both. There are over 50 miles of trail there, and I can’t wait to go back.
This is also one of those times that I should have trusted my instincts. I knew the battery was low on my camera, even though the display showed it as being fully charged. So guess what happened in the middle of the hike? Yup, it died. I missed capturing the largest bumblebee I have ever seen, and a mule deer that wandered out of the scrub brush to look at us. I think it’s time I buy a second battery pack.
